Park Day May 29 2005

On Sunday May 29 the first 'Day of the Park' was organised. The Park Day is an initiative of the ANWB. 
A total of 100 parks in 27 cities participated, one of which was the Vondelpark!

 

On the Park Day, there were tours trough the park, presentations about the history, ecology, water problems and much more... all the activities were free of charge! The day was raving succes.

Vondelpark Open

 

On Friday June 24 alderman Paul Slettenhaar received a checque for 20.600 euro from the Juniorkamer Amsterdam. The cheque was handed to him after the yearly Vondelpark Open Gulf tournament, of which the Park Hotel is the main sponsor.

Support the renovation

The renovation of the park is very expensive. The total costs are estimated at 25 million euro. About 20 million euro has been collected by the district Amsterdam Oud Zuid, the municipality of Amsterdam and subsidies. For the remaining 5 million euro we call upon the public and corporations. You can support the renovation by purchasing a Vondelpark T-shirt or buying Public Secret.


Public Secret

Park Day was the launching date for the book Publiek Geheim (Public Secret). More than 60 famous and ordinary people participated in the making of this extraordinary book by sharing their secret memory to the Vondelpark. The 60 writers were portraited by 16 professional photographers.
